This year Winchester City Council are kindly supporting the Digital Innovation of the Year Award at the 2018 Winchester Business Excellence Awards.
The Digital Innovation of the Year Award will be presented to a business which can demonstrate the use of innovative digital technology and have ongoing plans to develop this in the future. During the shortlisting process, the judges looked for organisations which could show digital innovation which improved business performance as a result.
The four shortlisted businesses for the category are:
BioTeq is the first UK company to offer human implantable micro-transponder technology using professional medical procedures. Using qualified medical doctors means BioTeq are able to offer completely pain-free installation and a high level of pre and post care. The implants enable users to embed Radio Frequency Identification and Near Field Communication (RFID/NFC) into their palms, literally. The implant is a completely passive device, without a power source internally and is about the size of a grain of rice. This means those with the implant can replace key fobs, ID cards and similar with their own hands. The real driver for the technology and the launch of BioTeq is the ability to drastically improve people’s lives. The use of assistive technology enables people with a range of disabilities to carry our everyday tasks which are made easier with the use of implant technology.
Videofrog is the specialist video production division of Whitwam Group, a family owned independent business. Videofrog was formed from the years of producing live events where many clients requested film recordings. Recently, the rapid development online and imaging technology has enabled high-quality video to be produced and viewed by a global audience – and for businesses, it has become an affordable and effective part of their communications mix. Unlike many other video production companies, Videofrog’s aim is to provide an unparalleled service to creative agencies that want to partner to produce affordable, commercially viable videos for their clients.
Enterprise Car Club
Enterprise Car Club has a large fleet of cars and vans spread across an ever-increasing number of UK cities. The vans and cars are parked in their own designated bays and can be reserved for as little as half an hour, a day or as long as needed. At the end of your reservation, the vehicle should be returned to the parking bay it was collected from, meaning there will always be a parking space ready for you. The cars and vans can be reserved using the app, online or by phone and access to the cars can be gained through the app or your access card. With Enterprise Car Club you only pay for the distance you actually need the vehicle for, meaning you have all the convenience of a vehicle, without the expense and hassle of owning one.
