The Winchester Business Excellence Awards presents The Charity or Social Enterprise of the Year Award, which is kindly sponsored by The University of Winchester. Applicants to this category demonstrated the valuable services they have provided within the Winchester District.
Judges were looking for a charity or social enterprise which could demonstrate clearly outlined goals and objectives, excellent leadership and management, clear evidence of social and community impact and evidence of sustainable growth.
We are delighted to announce that the four finalists shortlisted for this category are:
Trinity Winchester is a charity which addresses the effects of homelessness and vulnerability through specialist practical and emotional support. They help people who are vulnerable to the effects of homelessness, addiction, physical and mental ill-health, poverty, social isolation and domestic abuse. The charity’s purpose designed building is situated just outside the city centre and is open for people to drop in to, as and when they need help.
Integr8 Community CIC
Integr8 Community CIC is a provider of dance services to schools in the South and is specialists in Street Dance and Cheerleading. Integr8 provide PE lessons, after school clubs and teacher training, as well as running an award-winning dance school for all ages and abilities.
Winchester Street Reach
Winchester Street Reach is a charity working with young people in Winchester and the surrounding area. Established in 1983, their work is open to all young people and is particularly targeted to those experiencing disadvantage. Their approach to working with young people is primarily through ‘detached youth work’ or outreach in local communities. They build relationships with young people to offer support, advice and opportunities and they also run a drop-in football project in Harestock and a Youth Club in Micheldever.
Citizens Advice Winchester District
Citizens Advice Winchester District (CAWD) is a highly regarded advice agency providing free, independent, confidential, impartial and high-quality to local people on their rights and responsibilities. Clients are their priority and volunteers are at the heart of the organisation, being the main workforce delivering the service.
CAWD empowers clients to help themselves by supplying excellent, accurate information and advice that can be accessed face to face, over the phone and online. Clients help CAWD to make a difference by allowing the use of their evidence to influence change in unfair policies and practices.
The quality of applicants to the Charity or Social Enterprise of the Year Award was exceptional and the judges faced a tough challenge when shortlisting the finalists.
We look forward to Friday 1 June, where the Winchester Business Excellence Awards will take place and the winners from each category crowned. All finalists will be invited to enjoy a black-tie dinner. To book tickets to the event, please call the Hampshire Chamber of Commerce on 01256 338475.
